Stradbroke

I just got back on Monday from our adventure to Straddie (Stradbroke).  It was totally awesome! :) We first had to jump on a ferry called Minjerribah.  That is what Straddie used to be called, which means land of mosquitoes. :o  It didn't appear to buggy to me.  Thank goodness.
After we got off the Minjerribah, we went to go get our 4x4 passes.  Because apparently you have to have one of those.  As we started to make our way to the hotel, our GPS decided to make go down Industry Road which was a dead end construction site. :)  So we decided to ditch the GPS.  We did finally make it to the hotel.
The beaches at Straddie were AMAZING!!  They had crystal clear water, white sand, and awesome waves.  Speaking of waves, well typing, we took surfing lessons.  Ok, surfing is a lot harder than you think it is. It is also easier not to get up on your knees first.  I don't know why, but that is what the instructor man said.  I did get up a couple of times though.  Except the nose of my board kept on nose-diving.
I almost forgot about 4 wheeling.  The island had a ton of trails and we just couldn't resist.  Sadly we had to do a U-turn because the trail just wasn't coming to an end and we were constantly running into puddles, well large ponds.  The trails were really fun, but our car, Jim didn't like that he had to get dirty.  I know this because he told me in his Aussie accent and lisp that he was too pretty for 4x4ing.  He is a Pajero Exceed, so I guess he's pretty fancy.  Jim has a lisp because the man who sold it to us had a lisp.  :)
That is my adventure to Straddie.

I'm down-under

I am finally posting again.  It does get kind of difficult though to post while you are still going to school.
Australia honestly isn't that different, of course they speak with an accent, which I don't have by the way.  Other than that it really isn't that different.  the food is kind of different, but that's because it's right by Asia.  Sadly there is like no Mexican food:(  and it is really hard to find beans. you have to go to some special store just for beans.  Everything here seems to come in really small portions. I don't know why, I guess that's just how Aussies are.
One strange thing in my opinion is that there are just a ton of wild turkeys running around everywhere like the park and by the roads.  Another strange thing is that the people don't seem bothered by bugs at all! :o  STRANGE! Because there are a TON of bugs. Oh well.

3 Weeks!!!

I can't believe that I am really moving to Australia. On top of that I'm leaving in three weeks!! Everything just goes way to to fast. One I find out that I'm moving then the next I'm leaving in three weeks. Can you believe it? Three weeks is going to FLY  I just know it will. My parents have been looking for houses in Australia over the Thanksgiving weekend. They found one that they liked and today we found out that will be living there. Olive can also stay with us in that has so that is a bonus. Another bonus is that it is close to a really great school. Of course we have to wear uniforms, most good schools in Australia do though. So its not that bad, and it's NOT like they'll have totally trashy uniforms. It will really be different living in a whole country, not to mention continent.
The plane ride there will be fun though we get to ride on a huge, I mean HUGE air plane. That should be fun. Then for Christmas we will stay in Sydney for a while then take another plane to Brisbane.
I never realized this until we figured out we moving, but Australia has some WEIRD names like
  • Brisbane
  • Indooroopilly
  • Wagga Wagga
  • Perth
  • Melbourne
  • Hobart
Any way I just thought I'd share a few of  my many scattered thoughts. 8:-)

    Bows for Bailey

Bows for Bailey is a recently added holiday.

It is where you wear a bow AT LEAST once a week. This celebration is in honor of me moving to Australia. It all started when I told my friends that I was moving they decided that we should do something in honor of me moving to Australia. Since I had worn bows everyday for a while we decided that we should all wear bows. So that is how Bows for Bailey or B.F.B was started 8:-)

How I found out about moving

I found out that I was moving to Australia on Saturday, October 16.  We started off the morning by hopping in the car and driving to the Houston Zoo.  Of course we had to have a challenge, so my dad thought it would be fun if we found three animals from somewhere besides the U.S, so we decided on three from Australia.
First we just had to all of the fish. They had the cutest baby jelly fish there not mush bigger than a baseball.  The smallest just drifted around the tank, I don't think he had very much control over himself. We kept going through the room and stopped in front of the octopus tank.  We stood there watching and waiting to see if something would happen, and sure enough the octopus slowly began to squeeze itself through a hole between a rock like thing and the side of the tank. Amazingly it fit!!!  It slide along the front of the tank grasping it with its tentacles.  It was really cool!!!
Next we just had to see the elephants! I ran over there because they are probably my favorite animal.  The first thing I saw, was a baby elephant running to its mom. So CUTE!!  When we all got over there the little baby one decided that it would be fun to play with poop, so it started to roll it around.  I thought he was done playing with it, but apparently not he was just getting ready to eat it!  Yum, right?!
If you go to the zoo you just have to see the monkeys right?  So we meandered over to the monkey sanctuary.  Where we saw...
    • Mandrills
    • Orangutans
    • Gibbons
    • Tamarins

    Einstein Tamarin
The little orange tamarins were so very cute :-)   They are so tiny and their faces are so tiny.  One species of tamarins looked liked tiny little Einsteins.  Hee! hee!
We also saw the giraffes, but they were in their house-a-mu-bobber, so you couldn't really see them :-(  Oh well.  It was still fun to go over and see them.
We ended up finding three things from Australia and getting a cute stuffed animal. After our adventure to the Zoo, we went to Outback Steakhouse it was really fun. That was when my parents told us that we were moving to Australia. :-) That's how I found out I was moving to Australia and that's also how B.F.B started which is Bows For Bailey for those of you who don't already know. 8:-)
